Info Post
When Chen Guangcheng, the blind Chinese dissident, left the US Embassy, Hillary Clinton said that this was all his choice and the US would continue to protect him outside the walls of the Embassy:

"I am pleased that we were able to facilitate Chen Guangcheng's stay and departure from the US embassy in a way that reflected his choices and our values.

"Mr Chen has a number of understandings with the Chinese government about his future, including the opportunity to pursue higher education in a safe environment," she said.

"Making these commitments a reality is the next crucial task. The United States government and the American people are committed to remaining engaged with Mr Chen and his family in the days, weeks, and years ahead."

Well that turned out to be a big load of crap.  Here is what Chen had to say to CNN:

"I would like to say to President Obama - please do everything you can to get our family out," Chen told CNN, according to a translation of his quote. He also accused US Embassy officials of pushing him hard to leave on Wednesday.

"The embassy kept lobbying me to leave and promised to have people stay with me in the hospital, but this afternoon as soon as I checked into the hospital room, I noticed they were all gone."

Does it sound like returning to China was his choice?  It didn't even take 24 hours for the US government to abandon him, despite the Secretary of State's assurances.  They just abandoned him to a state that will probably wait until the press dies down and will make him disappear.  It's just so abhorrent.
